Members of the AAS are invited to submit abstracts, after which a selection process will allocate them for oral presentation – either a full 10 minutes or a 3-minute oral presentation. There are no plans for printed posters.

In addition to our invited speakers, our program will feature abstracts from our members across several different themes including:

  • Novel approaches for atherosclerosis
  • Mechanisms of disease
  • Cell signalling and interactions
  • Cardiometabolic complications of atherosclerosis
  • Clinical therapeutics and biomarkers for atherosclerosis
  • Artificial Intelligence in cardiovascular disease

Special Panel Discussion:  Exploring artificial Intelligence and it’s role in cardiovascular research.  Not to be missed, this will be a lively, informative and robust discussion.

SCOLAR: The Stroke, Cardiovascular, Obesity, Lipids, and Atherosclerosis Research Training Program will be presented on Wednesday morning.

The mission of the AAS’s SCOLAR program is to provide an advanced, interdisciplinary research training program for basic science and clinical trainees to help them become leaders in the research of lipid metabolism and its relation to cardiovascular disease, stroke, diabetes, obesity and the metabolic syndrome.  The program currently has two components: 1) a series of lectures given by senior members of the Australian Atherosclerosis Society with the aim of providing advanced lipid and atherosclerosis training to postgraduate students, and 2) an inter-laboratory exchange scheme, whereby postgraduate students are encouraged and supported to visit research laboratories in Australia and overseas with the aim of exchanging research ideas and methodologies. SCOLAR thus promotes exchange of information and ideas between students and faculty and promotes collegiality between trainees in the field of lipids and atherosclerosis.
SCOLAR Coordinators for 2025 are Dr. Arpeeta Sharma & Dr. Amy Baxter and is not to be missed.
