The gut microbiota in human hypertension and heart failure
A/Professor Francine Marques is a National Heart Foundation Future Leader Fellow and head of the Hypertension Research laboratory at Monash University. Through her discovery and clinical research on blood pressure regulation and the gut microbiota, she has won 25 awards including the 2021 Australian Academy of Science Gottschalk Medal.
Ms. Hamdi Jama
Maternal fibre intake protects offspring against cardiovascular disease
Hamdi Jama is a final year PhD student from Monash University under the supervision of A/Prof Francine Marques and Prof David Kaye. Her PhD research is focused on understanding the role of the gut microbiota in the development of high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease. She is a member of the High Blood Pressure Research Council of Australia ECR Committee and Australia New Zealand Human Microbiome Research Network Working Group.
