Prof. Julie McMullen

PI3K, exercise and atrial fibrillation

Professor Julie McMullen ( PhD) heads the Cardiac Hypertrophy Laboratory at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute, and is Head of the Discovery Preclinical Domain at the Institute. Her research interests include physiological and pathological cardiac hypertrophy, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, gene therapy and microRNAs. She sits on the Editorial Board of Clinical Science and the American Journal of Physiology, and is a Fellow of the American Heart Association and International Society for Heart Research

Dr. Yow Keat Tham

Profiling cardiac and plasma lipidomes to identify therapeutic targets and biomarkers for cardiac pathology

Yow Keat is an early career researcher in the Cardiac Hypertrophy Laboratory at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute. He completed his PhD in 2018 and currently leads the lipidomic work undertaken within the laboratory which has translated to publications in Nature Communications, Cell Reports and Diabetes. In addition, he also serves as Co Chair and Vice Chair of the Australasian section and World Congress International Society for Heart Research ECR Committees respectively.
