The
AAS Familial Hypercholesterolaemia Sub-Committee is a dedicated
team of clinicians and scientists from around Australia. Activities
currently underway include the development of management guidelines,
information sessions for clinicians, and the establishment of various
services around the country.
The AAS is also delighted to be the
coordinating organisation for MEDPED Australia and Asia-Pacific.
MEDPED stands for Make Early Diagnosis to Prevent Early Deaths.
It is an international research project and a nonprofit organization
funded to register and help treat people with inherited cholesterol
disorders, such as Familial Hypercholesterolemia (FH). The goal
is to find persons with FH that are either undiagnosed or inadequately
treated and help them with finding a diagnosis and the right treatment.
