When detected, treatment of FH should centre on a lipid disorders clinic run out of departments if internal medicine, endocrinology or cardiology. These services fall into three categories: patient care, laboratory and research/clinical audit. The general aim of these services is to identify, assess, manage and treat children, adolescents and adults with FH to the highest level of clinical excellent possible.
The clinical history, examination and request for further investigations would be undertaken by a specialist trained in clinical lipidology.
