AAS
and MEDPED are completely independent.
MEDPED
is an international collaborative program,
accredited by the World Health Organistation
and coordinated by the University of Utah,
the aims of which are to improve detection
of inherited disorders of cholesterol which
affect 1 in 350 of the population.
If you have been contacted by MEDPED, it is
important not to be alarmed. You have been
contacted because a family member has been
diagnosed with this genetic condition, and
in the interests of your own health you are
being informed. What steps you take are up
to you. MEDPED recommends that you see your
local GP to have your cholesterol levels measured.
If your results indicate you may have this
condition, please contact MEDPED so that we
can provide support to you and also ensure
other members of your family are screened.
